David L. Maldonado is the founder of Christ City Church, a ministry birthed from a deep desire to see God build a place of worship that would serve the entire city and not just a selected few.
David comes from a strong Pentecostal heritage. He is the son of Bishop Gilberto Maldonado, who has faithfully served in ministry for more than 40 years and led Abrigo Del Altísimo Council for more than 20 years. David believes the call to ministry has been passed down through his family, not simply as a tradition, but as a calling entrusted by God.
His ministry has been shaped by years of faithful service in nearly every area of the church while faithfully service at The Fountain Church with Pastor Harrison Sanchez II. He has served as a Worship Director, Missionary for more than 20 years, Bible Study Superintendent, District Outreach Vice President, Men’s Ministry leader, and Media Director. On July 22, 2018, he was ordained as an Elder, and on July 7, 2024, he was ordained as a Minister.
David is also a graduate of the Latin American Bible Institute (LABI) in New York, where he graduated with honors and now serves as a professor. His heart is especially drawn to teaching and helping people encounter the Word of God for themselves.
His ministry is centered on James 1:22—being doers of the Word and not hearers only. David teaches that we should not believe God’s Word simply because someone else preached it to us. We should believe it because we have come face-to-face with the Word, wrestled with it, and discovered its transforming power.
Together with his wife, Frances Calderon and three children: Isabella Mia Maldonado, David L. Maldonado Jr., and Valentino James Maldonado, they have accepted the calling of God to open a house of worship.
His prayer and vision for Christ City Church is simple: to build a place of worship where the presence of God can be experienced, the Word of God can be taught, lives can be transformed, and the church can truly be a church for the city.
